Repealing the Iron Law Oligarchy

This one is about failing democracy and the very fundamental tendency toward oligarchy that is one of the underlying causes of its failure. In the interview I discuss Robert Michels statement of the Iron Law his view that democracy always turns into oligarchy over time.

Then I explain how and why the Iron Law can be defeated by a particular type of e-participation facilitating creating a new metalayer of control of the political system countering and defeating its continuous tendency toward oligarchy. In the interview I try to show that the metalayer can create a new hybrid of representative government and continuous direct democracy.

This metalayer can dis-intermediate the role of big money, along with the mass media, and also ensure that bottom-up popular forces can gain continuous mind share and influence among representatives to compete with and overcome the mind share and influence already gained by special, oligarchical interests.
